Sociologists and anthropologists recognise the 'face to face' group ?in which all the individuals meet each other in the course of the day's activities?as a primary group in all types of human society. The mentality of crows: convergent evolution of intelligence in corvids and apes.

Discussions of the evolution of intelligence have focused on monkeys and apes because of their close evolutionary relationship to humans. Other large-brained social animals, such as corvids, also understand their physical and social worlds. Here we review recent studies of tool manufacture, mental time travel, and social cognition in corvids, and suggest that complex cognition depends on a "too...

Old World Monkeys Compare to Apes in the Primate Cognition Test Battery

In-Group Conformity Sustains Different Foraging Traditions in Capuchin Monkeys (Cebus apella)

Monkeys and Prosimians: Social Learning

Thus, we cannot parse learning, either as a process or as an outcome, into portions that ar...
